Siden 1800-tallet har familien Champion dyrket druer. De første mange år udelukkende for, at sælge dem videre til andre producenter. I 1929  begyndte André Champion selv, at producere champagne i stedet for at sælge druerne. Siden tog hans søn Roland Champion over og i 1951 skiftede huset navn til ”Champagne Roland Champion”.

I dag er det Francois Champion der sammen med konen Ginette og datteren Carole der styrer huset.

Francois Champion siger ”Bubbles make at last their appearance. At this stage, the law imposes to keep bottles in cellar 15 months minimum for the non-vintage and 3 years for the vintage champagnes.
We consider that prestigious Champagnes and in particular those made out of Chardonnay, need much more time to express and open themselves. That is why we let age our champagnes between 20 and 36 months for our non-vintage and 4 years for our Vintage champagnes”.
